Top notch mid-line blender

While it's not a stainless steel monster blender that will turn iPads into smoothies, it's also not a plastic piece of junk. My last blender was a corner store last minute buy for a margarita party. It had a plastic pitcher, a purple see through base and it eventually started smoking and leaking black oily liquid onto my counter. $15 gets you what it gets you.This blender is a pretty solid offering at a reasonable price.The base is made of plastic which feels a little cheap but it's also what makes it very light weight. The pitcher however is glass and it's a thick, heavy glass which is what makes the whole thing feel really well thought out. The buttons are well labeled and because there's a switch between high and low you have about 6 speeds and a couple pulse settings.I got this through the vine and since that meant it was free for me I decided to run it through some rigorous testing. After all if it broke I wasn't gunna cry about it.First thing I did was Ice since that's pretty typical, unsurprisingly it chewed right through without any effort. You can pulse it a couple times to get it started but once it got going I had slush in less than a minute.Next I decided to try some milkshake/blizzard type drinks. I threw in some heath bars and milk chocolate chips to get those ground up first (something I'd normally do in a food processor or mixed with milk). I decided for good measure to blend them without milk just to really stress the blender.It ate em up and turned em into paste. At the lowest setting the chocolate paste did stop the blades but once I kicked it into high it powered through.Next I stirred up the paste and added Ice cream but again no milk, again on low it was struggling but once I switched to high and pushed the milkshake button it started churning. I added milk and the whole thing kicked into a little milkshake whirlpool.So obviously the right way would've been to at least have some fluid in there while I ground up the chips and toffee and then to slowly add ice cream but as I said I wanted to try and break it by doing things the way a kid might do without adult supervision. It didn't break.Since then I've been knocking out smoothies, frosty drinks and the occasional milk shake without issue. Everything always turns into that whirlpool that lets you know it's getting mixed properly and I haven't had a problem with it at all. I've only had it for a a month now so I can't speak to it's long term durability but I can say that this month has probably been a nightmare for most blenders and mine is still grinding up drinks like water.I haven't put any non-food items in it and I don't plan to, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that if you want a good mid line blender for normal use (frosties, milkshakes, smoothies, icy cocktails, etc.) this is a reliable purchase.It breaks down like any other blender and cleans up quick. The base has a drip slot in the pitcher seat so you can clean it out if you need too. Really I have no complaints on this one. I wont give it 5 stars because it's not a 5 star blender, I'd reserve that for the heavy duty, stainless steel restaurant strength machines but it is a solid 4 star machine and really has no flaws for what it is as far as I'm concerned.PROS:Reasonable PriceHeavy Glass pitcherLight Weight Base6 speeds + 2 pulse settingsChews through just about anything.CONS:Plastic baseLow Speeds will get stuck with pasty or thick foods.Again, I definitely feel comfortable recommending this one for your kitchen. It's not gunna compete with the restaurant quality blenders but if you just want smoothies and cocktails I'd settle on this in a heart beat.

Awesome - Powerful - Blender!

This is a Great Blender for many reasons:1) Powerful with the Optional Ice Blades2) Takes up Minimal Counter Space... which is GREAT!3) The pitcher is Heavy Duty thick Glass with an exceptional Pour Spout!4) PRICE IS GREAT!So there you go... can't do better than this... and it comes in RED...
