Smoothie makers beware

This is the most awful blender I have ever used. I mostly make smoothies. Frozen fruit constantly gets stuck around the blade and you have to take the lid off to stir the contents around a few times. It's a hassle. I'd avoid this at all costs if you want a good smoothie maker. It might be good for other uses but definitely not smoothie making.

We make smoothies every night

We make smoothies every night and my kids love them. The blender reoommneds adding the liquid first. We first add juice, then yogurt, two bananas, then packaged frozen fruit. It tastes like candy.I first put it on low speed to grind it down, then switch it to high. Sometimes it takes a while and seems to grind unevenly, but it eventually gets it done. We've been making smoothies almost every night for a year.The food processor is small and you have to limit quantities which is a pain. However, at the price point, I'm pretty happy.

OK for icy drinks, salsa, and baby food

I received this blender as a gift. It has worked great to make icy beverages that have a high liquid content, like lime juice or for smoothies with yogurt/frozen fruit/milk or juice. I've also used the processor attachment successfully to make baby food (chicken), salsas,guacamole and to make blended tofu dishes. I recently started making daily smoothies with raw greens and veggies and it is a challenge. I find I have to add much more than the recommended 1 c. of liquid in order for it to blend things up. When processing carrots, pears, apples and such you are left with a grainy texture. If you are looking for something primarily for raw or green smoothies/soups look for another product. It is frustrating to constantly shove your spoon, bang the side of the blender, or shake it around every minute to try and get the stuff moving. Also it is extremely loud, will wake up everyone in the morning!
