Not as good as it used to be

Bought this blender last summer so I could make milk shakes and smoothies. It was a replacement for another blender that we discarded after a couple years use because the motor had burnt out while crushing ice.I bought my first Oster Blender years ago to make baby food and was always pleased with the results. I particularly liked the small jars that fit right on the blender and other accessories for making and storing convenient, so Oster was my first choice.This evening while making hummus the blender began to smoke. Apparently the motor has burned out, again, after only seven months of occasional use. $40 seems like a good price for a blender but, obviously not, if you have to replace it twice a year. I would willingly pay more for a model with a better quality motor. So far I haven't found any mention of any kind of warranty... but who keeps the box or receipts for a $40 blender anyway?UPDATE:I contacted Oster via their website and described the problems I'd had with the blender. Despite the fact that I couldn't find any information about a warranty, they promptly shipped a new blender to me and sent a UPS pre-paid shipping label to return the old blender to them, which I did. Knock on wood, we haven't had a problem with the replacement blender so I'm giving them two more stars on my rating due to good customer service.

Arrived dead as a door nail!

I'm looking for an inexpensive blender to make smoothies.I spent an hour trying every which way to get it to turn on, but no luck. I sent it back. Amazon promptly credited my card, so I'm impressed with their return policy even if I am not with Oster.
