Don't fool yourself into buying a B&D appliance

You're not going to be the lucky one who gets a decent amount of use out of this thing. If you're like me, using it on an almost daily basis, it will work for a month or two. One day the blade assembly will magically disintegrate and you'll be looking at a replacement cost, with shipping, of $10 to $15. That means you could spend $100 to keep this thing running for a year, assuming nothing but the blade breaks on a regular basis. Suddenly an $80 Kitchenaide doesn't look like such a bad deal.Dummies like me buy these things because the nice, heavy-looking glass jar gives the illusion of quality. It reminded me of the blender my parents had for years and years when I was a kid. This is not that blender. For shame, for shame, Mssrs. Black and Decker!

Trusting the Black & Decker brand, I bought this item on sale expecting it to work as an average blender. The very first time I used it, brand new out of the box, it couldn't even crush ice. The blade got stuck, and I worked with it to try to move things around, add water - nothing helped. This product is terrible. Do not buy it.

Black and Decker has stumbled upon the worst designed and engineered product since Icarus. Combining a deft hand at pirated appearance, B&D enhanced the same with a rather tricky disengagement method that is sure to ruin your day, if not electrocute you. B&D has put a large plastic sleeve around the base of the mixing jar that allows the same to sit safely on the counter-top while preparing food. Seems like a great idea, and a really good idea around a child. Unfortunately B&D appears to have hired a child to engineer this product, perhaps an infant who is unfamiliar with blenders and mechanical devices in general. Because , you see, the sitting base, disengages from the blender with a clockwise turn of the mixing jar. Alas, so does the mixing jar from the base. So when one disengages to the jar to actually utilize the precious liquor one has slaved over, it pours through the bottom of the mixing jar onto the counter-top, then the floor, and to the amusement of all, onto the chef and host. It may be time for American firms to bring some production back here. We can start with the deign team. Apparently teaching a Chinese engineer that synchronous threading on a revolving gasket is a rather unusual idea. My last B&D mixer lasted exactly 5 mixes. I knew that it was a defect and so upgraded with the same firm out of a lifetime of B&D purchases. I now realize that I am also synchronously revolving around the same carousel. I am now looking for a blender made in the USA.
