Great blender; use caution

I've had this blender for three days now and it is seriously wonderful; blends to a great consistency, easy to use, easy to clean, all around great product. Yesterday I took the lid off to pour my smoothie simply because I forgot about the little spout on the lid. The blades slid out and onto my foot and I had to be taken to the ER for 12 stitches and will be on crutches for at least 2 weeks. I got hit on the upper foot but if it would've landed a little lower, it could've easily taken a toe off. I am not trying to discourage anyone from buying this, I don't regret my purchase at all, but please realize that the blades are extremely sharp and they are loose inside of the pitcher once the lid is removed. I will be enjoying all of my smoothies from bed for the next few days.

just bought this. THe 700 watts are great. The blades are extremely sharp. It has more layers of blades than most blenders. Much more quiet than my single serve blender. I also like that it can be used for large projects as well as single serve. It eliminates the need for two different types of blenders. You get a lot of wattage for the price.

I needed a new blender because I wanted to do smoothies and other drinks and the one I had couldn't handle either the ice or some of the other things I wanted to put in. This is a great blender for that. If you want to blend only smaller amounts, try the smaller Ninja product - the blades are throughout the pitcher, so if you are only blending a little bit, the contents won't even get up to some of the blades. This blender has no problem blending ice, frozen fruit, veggies, etc., into a very smooth puree consistency. Very happy with it!
