Blends Like New, But Fails Quickly

This was a replacement for an original cutter blade that cracked after years of use. This part fit perfectly and restored like-new blending and chopping to my Cuisinart blender. It even came with the rubber gasket.I'd recommend hand-washing the blender base and cutter blade, since the original one probably cracked due to the drying heat of my dishwasher. Just be careful, though, since this thing is really sharp!Great replacement part to keep your blender working like new.*** Update after 4 months of use ***The cutter blade is having similar problems as my original Cuisinart blade - it's starting to get really tight in the shaft (huh, huh!) and doesn't spin as freely as when new. I think this is due to a couple of runs in my dishwasher. DON'T WASH THESE BLADES IN THE DISHWASHER - WASH THEM BY HAND FOR MUCH LONGER LIFE.*** Update after 1 year of use ***I've taken this review down to 3 stars because my second replacement of this blade is having the exact same problems as its predecessors. The blade gets very stiff and hard to turn despite being taken care of very delicately and only washing by hand with gentle soap. I even dabbed a tiny bit of vegetable oil on the blade shaft in a futile attempt to keep this part working longer. No luck - after a year of very limited use, the blade is almost impossible to turn. Seems like a design flaw or planned obsolescence. My friends' blenders are all older than mine and work just fine with their original blades. Time for a different brand...

I bought this to replace the blade on our CB-4 blender (blade part # CB-456-23). It is not a perfect fit. It is about 1/32 inch larger in diameter, and doesn't fit the screw on base without jamming. I had to sand down the outer edge. Once I did that, it works perfectly.I wrote to Cuisinart, and they claim that there are no replacement parts available for a blender as old as the CB-4.

IT'S NOT THE BLADES FAULT! I RUINED IT...

I think I figured out why these blades freeze up so soon! This was the third replacement blade for me. Here's my findings: Wash by hand (careful IT'S SHARP) and set it to dry with the blades up rather than pointing down. The rubber O-ring does a good job of keeping the blender contents out of the drive-shaft housing and it also keeps wash water trapped when it enters the from the other end; so stand it on the gear head to dry w/ blades up&up. Also you can take it apart to dry the shaft and lube it with non-toxic food grade lube made for appliances. Remember too, that the threads that hold the gear-head onto the shaft are left-hand threads... so to loosen it get a rag, use it to grab and hold onto the sharp blades... big pliers will unscrew the gear-head off IF you turn it CLOCKWISE... which is the opposite rotation from what you're familiar with for loosening just about everything else.
